Found out that we were swimming in lake Wilson, Wilson Kansas when this was found.
sandstone.

Ok that helps. The area around Wilson Lake is surrounded by The Dakota formation. This is mostly sandstone and limestone from the Cretaceous Period.

I have heard of fossil leaves being found in the area. I can't tellyou the species but this looks like leaf fossils to me.
