Tiny Eel-Like Fossil?

by Gabrielle G
(Oregon)

Hi there,

This summer I received a free bag of stones while attending an Oregon rock and gem show. I just got around to sorting them out and found this. Could you please help me identify this fossil?

Thank you,
Gabrielle G.

Gabrielle,

I cannot give you a positive id on your specimen but I can give you another way to look at it. Sometimes a shell imbedded in a rock only shows an edge. I think you may have some clam or other fossil shells that you can only see the edge of.
