I found this among the curiosities in my grandfather's collection.
I believe it to be a polished fossil, is it so?

Jesse,

Yes it is a polished fossil. It is called orthoceres. It comes from Morocco and is from the Devonian Period. Orthoceras was a squid-like creature. You can learn more about it here:
